Just putting this out there, so there isn't any confusion. I WAS planning on leaving LYS for an eventual full time job, but I never got one. It wasn't a cut and dry lay off, it just happened sooner than I was prepared for. I'm not angry at anyone, especially not Wendy because I love her sooo much and she didn't do anything wrong. I love LYS, I hope to continue selling my yarn there, and if possible I want to attend knit nights...

If there is ever a place for me at LYS and I am available I am definitely open to that. and if not, I'm trying to make peace with my situation and find a way to make ends meet.

So don't worry be happy! =)

We need me to take care of this earth, because it is all we have.

Quote from astronaut - seen on Lifetime commercial while watching Project Runway.

It is such a simple thing - we need to take care of this earth.  And in this time of reflection between the holidays... it just touched me deeply.
I  - me - need to take better care of my planet.  I do ok, in the big scheme of things, the best I can I think most days.
But I think it is really time to take a good look at my consumption in the next year and REALLy focus on how I can do better.
Save electricity.  Recycle even more. Less plastic in general.  Buy more thrifty store/used things for art projects.  You know, the regular list.  As a dyer, I have streamlined my processes to limit the impact.  As a wool buyer, I have no choice but to ship in wool, but I do it in bulk usually to limit shipping costs.  And the buyers, well, yeah, I am limited by that... you buy it and I will ship it!  hehehe  But I try to combine orders and make two or sometimes three trips to the post office.
beautiful Earth by job_earth.
(this weeks inspirational photo byJob_earth on Flickr)

Oh what... you were thinking I was going to talk about dieting?  Heck NO.  I mean, REALLY!

Yeah, after the holiday feasts, I feel like eating Sushi and salad for weeks - something light.  We eat cheese fondue for Christmas eve, so it is pretty rich.  But yeah, no.  I am not dieting.  I have several friends on the diet band wagon though, so I am guessing I am going to be eating a bit better!  hehehehe

And just to be real,  it really just chaps my ass that every station is playing diet products on high rotation.  But then I think about it from a marketing point of view, and I bet that they (diet products) make the most money during this time of year... so yeah, I guess they gotta advertise.
I think it just makes people, and women in particular, feel less than... like they need to be thin to be themselves.  That you can't love yourself unless you are at your goal weight.  That being normal, or growing old, or not model thin is not ok.  That you can't live and be happy with yourself unless you look like a supermodel.  Well hell - who has time for that?
Argh.
I am all for getting fit, healthy, living well, changing eating habits, you know... treating yourself well.  Because we are supposed to treat ourselves well.  That is what life is all about.
It is when people start feeling bad about themselves and looking at their body and themselves as being ugly, or fat, then I worry.  And it is never because they are truly unhappy - in the big scheme of things - with their bodies but because they saw some show or article that said they weren't ok at their current weight/age/size/hair cut/etc.  Or think that at 40 they should be able to wear a bikini to the beach, after two kids.  Or some idiot doctor tells them at 5'11" they should weigh 120 lbs to be "healthy".  Phoeey.

And when businesses take advantage of that, well, phooey on them too!

Ok, onto better topics.  This is what I got for Christmas!
A table!  Yeah me!  I have two tables now to work on!  I am so excited.  And it will be nice to eat at the table for once!
heheheh

merry christmas to me

I love it.  It is perfect because it has great stools that tuck underneath and can be used for additional seating.  It is just what I wanted!

We usually celebrate Christmas day at my Sisters. I got up early early and did the Christmas morning  Auntie Run!  Along with a few other folks - although the roads are usually pretty empty except a few other grandparents and aunts/uncles.
You know, roll out of bed in my jammies so I can be there before my nephew gets up and sees what Santa brought!  He is 11 this year.  Time goes by soooo fast.  It is worth getting up at the crack of dawn (aka 7am!)  And yes!  I truly go in my jammies.  It is Christmas!

Auntie dash xmas morning3

We spend the whole day of Christmas opening packages.  No, there aren't that many packages, but it has become almost a game to see how slow the family can stretch it out!  So I knit!  This year they made it until almost 4pm.  It is fun.  We open a package... talk about it... break for coffee... open a package... break for breakfast... break for... you get the idea.

So... as I was waiting and waiting....I was sitting there and looked up and saw these balls I made her years ago!
Pretty huh!
I think she has six.... fiber and blingy things all in a clear globe.
FUN!

ornaments from 3 years ago

Oh well, guess you can tell I am still exhausted.
No update tonight.  I have a box of goodies but yeah, I didn't get a chance to photograph them.  I was busy sleeping and resting.
Next week I have a long list of things I want to do, after I work of course, yeah, the day job never stops,  so I expect mayhaps I will sneak in a midweek update.
Plus, I plan to Spin In the new year as usual, so I want to make some batts and collect up for some fantasy bags!
I keep finding great goodies in my art room so I am soooo excited!
Squeee.

Has it really been 10 days since I last posted? Wow. The time - it goes so fast and I have been so busy. Hope everyone had a great holiday. I've been reading every now and then so for the most part I know what everyone has been up to but family and a little R&R has kept me away from the computer. I haven't even done anything fibery! I have managed a few entries in my Spontaneous Journal and today I carved some stamps and curled up with some new art books but that is the extent of things. Hope to get back into full-swing once school starts up again after New Year's. I do plan to do dye pots all week so I have something for an update after the first of the year. I may even try to sneak on a thing or two.

I've been looking at lots of Outsider Art lately. One of my favorites is Henry Darger and today I stumbled upon a song called The Ballad of Henry Darger by Natalie Merchant. I'd never heard it before and it sent chills up my spine - it's so beautiful. If you are a Henry Darger fan too, you might take a listen:

Amazing beautiful haunting lyrics.

Anyway, that's my meager post for today. We had a nice Christmas and all is well. Will get back to it soon.

SO Christmas….

I took a picture of what I got my mom cause it is cool, this was in lu of a stocking.

IT is a project bag, with a novelty spinning batt I made her, a Sillk Lantern Moon Project bag, stuffed with some local wool that I intend on making her a batt out of…

I also got mom some local honey from bayside, Chai Bicot tea cookies, Lemon Shortbread, Zimmermans jam, Konaboldt Cookies, Konaboldt Red eye toffee, Theater cookie in lavender and lemon, and a photo album for pictures of her trips here.

Mom got me a great electric ball winder, sees candys,

Some pineapple and candy ( this was the exchange).

Mom also made me this great lacy scarf…

MY aunt sent me a lovely doily and chicken towels that I love.

She sent my mom this tree skirt and lovely Doily.

I gave mom this lovely rug.

My Niece and nephew sent my mom these lovely pieces of their art, Austin made the apron, Chloe the cup and key chain.

Billy and Brittney and crew sent me this. Thanks

We decided to go to the beach IT seemed like a nice tradition…

Mom mentioned that we couldn’t leave until we found an agate… I finally found one but I suck major at it.

We then had dinner…

All my little chickens are in bed… And I had a great day. I hope you did too.

Hello! Merry Christmas!!!

Wow, for a while there I was in Christmas hell. First there was the car accident on December 9th that completely totaled our car, then a big interview in Philly - mehhhh burst my bubble - (the big secret from previous entry), then a REALLY bad ear infection that lasted 9 days - worst pain of my life, lost my job at the yarn shop two days ago (no fault of mine or Wendy's), and finally yesterday morning found that my present for Octavian the Tomten sweater got ruined (sun bleached from being on display in a window). I seriously almost died.

So all of that from Dec. 9th - Dec. 24th. I'm REALLY hoping it's over now. It feels like it's over. And although we are nervous and worried about getting me a new job as soon as possible, I do feel better. I feel like we made it through all of that nastiness and 2010 will be better for us. I told Jerome it's really important to me that we have a good New Year's Eve together. We're spending it at home together, but I think it's important for us to have a really good night to kick off a new beginning, even if it's just drinks + TV.

And right now I know all of my yarn clubs are super late, and I need to get yarn out to Rachel + Adrian too. I'm so sorry to everyone for all of my bad freakin luck that totally threw me off my game. I promise I haven't given up though and I'm getting right back on that horse. My ear is better now, no more pain... it's just like... dead. hahaha I can't hear out of it yet but at least there is no more mind blowing jaw cringing pain. There is hope. haha

Okay Okay, I am leaving ONE good part out. The single most lovely amazing Christmas party I have ever been to. This was the night before my ear pain started and I'm so grateful I got to attend. It's a group of us that have been meeting weekly for two years now, and we all love each other to BITS! Come join us every Thursday night from 6-8, we will welcome you with open arms! Just knit + chat + laugh. http://lancasteryarnshop.com for more information.

Before everything started falling apart, I managed to give out some really great gift baskets. (Good thing I started super early this year!!!) This one was for my friend Cindy, but they were all pretty similar with a few personalized things here and there. Some of the items I made and some were things I bought. More details here.

(Pictured Above: A gift basket for my friend Cindy)

This morning, Christmas day, went really well! Thank goodness for my Daddy, (Gregpa) who bought Octavian a TON of toys I wrapped up last night. The sweater disaster was a real bummer, but Gregpa's toys definitely saved Christmas.

I still have our family party to go to tonight, and then a separate Christmas to spend with Gregpa (he is stuck in Bloomsburg, PA because of an ice storm), so I won't share TONS of photos just yet. I'll post the rest tomorrow.

(Above Video: Octavian excited about a new car car!)

My hubby was so cute and made me giggle all through breakfast. We went to Denny's. He did a great job taking care of the house, the baby, the car insurance, EVERYTHING while I was sick for 9 days. He also did a great job playing Santa with me last night.  Love you Baby!!! You're so cute!

From all of us to you,
Merry Christmas,
and may 2010 be BETTER for all!!!!

Keep it Knitty,

Yesterday we decided to put a floor in the bottom of the chicken Coop, AKA the Greenhouse....

So I went to Work ( at Three Gs) and got about 10 pallets.

We carried them all to the back and we had this table that they roost on. It was the hardest part of doing this job.

We then put the rest of the pallets in the bottom.

On the 12th day of Christmas my true love gave to me...... FIBER!

Every year at HollyEQQ, we play the 12 days of Christmas game!  It is fun and there are lots of winners.

Tonights game is easy.  There are 12 bags of fiber on the top of the fiber page.... everything above the bags of glam.
You pick out and buy whichever one (or more) you want.

http://hollyeqq.startlogic.com/fiber.php

First chance at winning:

There are HollyEQQ gift cards hidden behind two of the 12 items for $15 each.

Second Chance at winning:

Each of the 12 items is a raffle ticket into the FINAL Christmas drawing..... one grand pubha prize of a $50 HollyEQQ gift Certificate.

WOOHOO.

That is a 16 percent chance to win a $15 gift card and about 8% to win the big prize!
Them there is pretty good odds!
And even if you don't win... you get to keep your fiber so there is NO chance to lose!

So, go buy one of the 12 items that you think hides the gift cards and whatever pretties you want to play with over the holiday!
Game STARTS NOW.

Holly

Fine Print:  You can buy ANYTHING while you shop, but only the 12 items above the glam bags on the fiber page count in this game.
Gift Certificate is only good at HollyEQQ.com

Update:  Ok, 30 minutes and there are ONLy five items left!    And one of the small instant gift certificates left!  HURRY.
Drawing will be Christmas day by my nephew.

The batty babes update will begin shortly.  I am guessing around 9:30pm. Dec20update Years ago, I used to have a Batty Babe monthly club, but when I got sick, I had to close it because my body wouldn't let me create the batts that I wanted to create.  So, almost two years later, and here we are!  Batts! My new table helps immensely and a renewed spirit for creating art!  And I like to think these batts are a little piece of art! For those of you that have never gotten a Batty Babe Batt - they are hard core.  These are no sweet innocent batts that are all fluffed up roving and a bit of bling.  They are challenging, interesting, and hopefully FUN.  And these batts have a lot of handdyed silk material dyed by moi!  I hope you like them. See you atthe update! Holly
